Heritage Open Days 2026 - Collective Histories of Calderdale

Come to the Birchcliffe Centre on Saturday 19th September as we open our doors for Heritage Open Days. We'll be celebrating the completion of our National Lottery Heritage Fund project with the opening of our exhibition space in reception as well as the launch of our brand new Digital Archive website! You'll also be able to learn about our recent project in partnership with Valley of Sanctuary and Manchester Metropolitan University and learn more about our amazing building.

From 10am-11am we'll be showing short films in the David Fletcher Hall as part of the Third Saturday film series. After 11am, the entire building will be open to look around and explore.

IOU Hostel, formerly the Birchcliffe Sunday School, will also be open to explore. Come and see their Landscape Through the Lens exhibition, a series of local Calderdale landscape prints, all captured by artist and photographer Charlie Meecham. Charlie will be onsite discussing his work between 12pm and 1pm. This forms part of the IOU50 celebrations, funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and the National Archives.
